    The 2016-2017 School year will be Larry Guggisberg’s sixteenth year as Superintendent and twenty-eighth year of service as a school administrator in the Roseau School District. Prior to being the Supt. of Schools Larry was the Roseau Elementary School Principal and the Assistant High School Principal and a Junior High Social Studies Teacher in the Grand Rapids School District.

    Larry’s professional background includes a wide range of experiences at the local and state levels. He was a Middle School Social Studies teacher, Junior High Basketball and Assistant Varsity Baseball coach in the Grand Rapids MN school district for eight years. Larry was also a part time Community College instructor and Community Education teacher while in Grand Rapids.

    Larry was the MASA Region 8 Superintendent of the Year in 2006 and was a member of the MASA Board of Directors from 2007 to 2013. The Minnesota Association of School Administrators (MASA) is a professional organization whose mission is to establish the statewide agenda for children, serve as the preeminent voice for public education, and empower members through quality services and support. MASA members are school superintendents, directors of special education, other central office school administrators, regional administrators, and higher education administrators and professors from throughout Minnesota.  Larry was the co-Chair of the 2015-2016 MASA Legislative Advocacy Committee and is Chair of the 2016-2017 MASA Legislative Advocacy Committee.

    Larry was inducted into Bemidji State University's Professional Educators Hall of Fame in April 2009. He holds a Bachelor's degree from Bemidji State University. He received his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Minnesota in 1988 and his Education Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Minnesota in 1989.  Larry received his Doctorate in Education from the University of North Dakota in 2015.

    Larry and his wife Kris reside in the City of Roseau. They are the proud parents of Jamie and Eric, both graduates of Roseau High School.
