May 2nd – 6th , the high school English students of Mrs. Carla Olsen will write with Julia Klatt Singer.  Julia Klatt Singer encourages students to find their words and also the power within them.

She left writing to teach high school social studies and then left teaching to write. As an artist with COMPAS these two occupations become one! She has her MA from Hamline University in Creative Writing. Julia has published over thirty short stories
and poems and is the co-author of the book Twelve Branches (Coffeehouse Press).

Artist-in-Residence activities are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the

Northwest Minnesota Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural

heritage fund. The Roseau Parent Teacher Organization provides additional funding to help with

costs.  The residencies are arranged with COMPAS. COMPAS programs are made possible in part by

a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board, through an appropriation by the Minnesota State

Legislature.

Roseau seniors at Youth Frontiers WISDOM retreat on Friday, April 22. The seniors had a great day while getting to know their
classmates a little better and at the end getting the chance to say their last goodbyes before they graduate in May. Thank you Mr. Urness and RHS for providing our students with such a great program!
